Am I A Failure?

No, babes. Let’s not even dwell there.

You’ve got no shortage of brilliant ideas and find yourself going down wormholes learning everything there is to know. Your passion is burning at an all time high. And then…three weeks later, poof. That idea is yesterday’s news and you’re already onto the next one.

Your pile of unlaunched ideas have collected a thick layer of dust or found themselves a home in someone else’s hands. You’re left with a mind that’s still as active as ever, but now with more remorse.

A friend once said to me, “remorse is like peeing on your own leg”, completely and utterly unhelpful. We want dry legs that march us forward. But first we need to know why the engine keeps stalling.

We stall for a few reasons:

FEAR OF CHANGE - This can be the fear of failure or success. When we have these visions that we feel ignited by, we’re also being called to transform through that process. Our dreams will change us. Sometimes that means shedding naysayers you’ve had around too long. Or giving up vices and habits that have provided a false sense of cozyness. Focus on the long game and kick them to the curb. Keep asking yourself “How good can it get?” This helps to short circuit any pessimistic loops and automatically jumps you into the same expansive energetic field of that dream.

OVERWHELM OR LACK OF INFORMATION - You don’t have a clear path to success. It’s not clear how you’ll begin to chip away at your goal. But you must chip anyway. Google is your ally. Your friends, family, and AI are too. Consider anyone you know who is even remotely connected to your idea and reach out. Most people are excited to pitch in and offer their knowledge. Or you can use a simple AI prompt: [one-liner stating your idea]. I’m excited by the idea [your feelings and its benefits], but I’m not exactly sure where to start. I need three easy steps to get the ball rolling.

LACK OF CONFIDENCE - Tender person, I invite you to play. Hold your idea of who you are loosely. You can’t get things wrong in the sandbox.

There are no guarantees when you try something new, but every attempt teaches you something you can build on. And that’s the sweet space where confidence builds. Real learning comes through doing. Look to some area in your life where you are good at something. How did you become good at it? What kind of attitude have you had every time you approach it? Try employing a similar attitude.

So no, you’re not a failure. You’ve got to get to the root of your block and then move through it. We are natural problem solvers and when something piques our interest, it usually takes little effort for us to investigate.

Working with a coach can be another helpful tool while you’re in your discovery process. We’ll help you see some of the blocks you’re unaware of, hold you accountable, and throw out new ideas what maybe you haven’t seen
